
Two education workers have been killed by Maoists in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. The bodies were found in a forest near Pilur village on July 15th. One of the victims has been identified as Vinod Made, an education envoy. The Maoists have alleged that the victims were working as informants for the police. Official sources are yet to confirm the details. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Pharasgarh police station.
This is not an isolated incident. In the last two weeks, six people have been killed by Maoists in Bijapur on suspicion of being informants. The deceased include four villagers and two students. The Maoists have been responsible for the deaths of 1,821 people in the last 25 years.
