The Chhattisgarh government has amended the subsidy framework for the half-electricity bill initiative. Previously, a discount was applied to up to 400 units of monthly electricity consumption; now, a 50% rebate will be provided for consumption up to 100 units per month. According to the government, approximately 31 lakh of the state’s 45 lakh domestic consumers—about 70%—do not exceed 100 units of monthly usage.
The Chhattisgarh government has confirmed that these 31 lakh households, encompassing both regular consumers and those from weaker economic backgrounds, will continue to benefit from the scheme in the same manner as before. Approximately 70% of the state’s domestic consumers will keep receiving benefits from the half-electricity bill scheme. The state government is committed to helping impoverished families manage their electricity costs.
