Naib Tehsildars in Chhattisgarh have initiated an indefinite strike today, driven by their 17-point agenda. Before the strike, a significant number of Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars gathered at the Tuta Dharna Sthal. The Tehsildar Association has announced that work will only resume once all necessary resources are provided. This strike is a direct consequence of the unmet demands put forth by the association.
Key demands include ensuring sufficient staff in every tehsil: computer operators, peons, patwaris, revenue inspectors, etc.; maintaining transparency in Deputy Collector promotions, upholding a 50:50 ratio between direct recruitment and promotions; granting Naib Tehsildars the status of gazetted officers; improving the grade pay for Tehsildars; providing all tehsils with government vehicles and drivers; expediting reinstatement in suspension cases, with investigations completed within 15 days; excluding judicial matters from public complaints; enforcing the Judge Protection Act 1985 to prevent FIRs on court orders; establishing separate arrangements for court work apart from protocol duties; empowering Tehsildars to recruit staff via outsourcing; appointing trained operators for the Swamitva scheme, land records, e-courts, and other technical areas; reappointing SLR and ASLR; providing government mobile numbers, while maintaining the privacy of personal numbers; ensuring security guards and field vehicles in every tehsil; setting clear guidelines for immediate compensation in the event of road accidents; obtaining recognition for the association from the government, facilitating dialogue and problem-solving; and constituting an expert committee dedicated to revenue court reforms.
