Security forces in Chhattisgarh have achieved a major success with the surrender of 50 Naxal cadres, comprising 32 women, in Kanker district. The surrender ceremony, held at the BSF’s 40th Battalion camp in Kamtera, also resulted in the recovery of 39 weapons. This mass defection includes prominent Maoist leaders, such as five DVCM-rank individuals and 21 ACM-level members. Authorities view this as a substantial setback for Maoist activities in the strategically important Maad region. Furthermore, a larger surrender of approximately 120 cadres is anticipated in Bijapur district by Thursday, reflecting intensified pressure and successful outreach efforts. The government continues to focus on community integration programs to support former Naxalites.
