
In a major breakthrough for security forces, six Naxalites have been killed in a fierce encounter in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. The operation, initiated based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of key Maoist figures, unfolded in the Indravati National Park. A combined team of police commandos, including the DRG and STF, engaged the militants in a sustained firefight. Post-encounter searches uncovered the bodies of the six cadres, who were found to be armed with automatic weapons like an INSAS rifle, sten guns, a .303 rifle, and explosive materials. The area has been further secured with the deployment of additional forces from CRPF and CAF to prevent any furtherNaxalite activity. This development is seen as a significant victory in the sustained campaign to eradicate Maoism from the region.
