ASP Akash Rao Giripunje was killed in an IED blast in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. The attack took place near Dondra village as security forces were patrolling the area. Several other police officers were also injured. ASP Giripunje was leading the patrol and succumbed to his injuries in Konta hospital. The incident occurred during a patrol conducted in response to a bandh called by the CPI(M). Deputy CM Vijay Shamra expressed his condolences. This tragic event occurred amidst ongoing anti-Naxal operations and highlights the challenges faced by security forces. This event is one of several attacks targeting security forces in recent months, aimed at disrupting the state’s efforts to eliminate Naxalism by March 2026.
