Controversy has erupted in Korba, Chhattisgarh, following an incident where a woman’s partially burned body was transported to the hospital for post-mortem in a municipal garbage truck. The situation has drawn criticism from numerous quarters.
The incident occurred in the Bakimongra police station area. The police, after the initial investigation at the scene, prepared to send the deceased woman, identified as Geeta Shri Vishwas, for a post-mortem. However, a शव वाहन or ambulance was unavailable.
Police sought assistance from South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) for a proper vehicle but faced rejection. Consequently, they were forced to use a garbage truck to transport the body. This decision has led to public condemnation, highlighting the lack of appropriate resources and protocols in handling such sensitive situations.
