An IED explosion, orchestrated by Naxalites in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, claimed the life of ASP Akash Rao Giripunje and injured several other police officers. The blast took place near the village of Dondra. The injured personnel were rushed to Konta Hospital. The incident occurred while police were patrolling, in response to a bandh called by the Naxalites. ASP Giripunje succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The Deputy CM of Chhattisgarh, Vijay Shamra, expressed grief over the loss, recognizing ASP Giripunje’s bravery and service. Search operations have been increased in the area following the attack. This recent attack underscores the continued threat posed by Naxal elements, despite ongoing efforts by security forces to combat the insurgency.
