The PWD sub-engineer examination in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, has been marred by a significant cheating scandal, with a student using a spy camera and earphone to receive answers from an accomplice in an auto-rickshaw. This incident has exposed the vulnerabilities in the examination system.
The incident took place at Ramdulare Government Swami Atmanand School in Sarkanda, Bilaspur, during the sub-engineer recruitment exam on Sunday. The candidate, Annu Surya, concealed a spy camera in her inner garment and used an earpiece to receive answers. Her friend, Anuradha, stationed outside in an auto-rickshaw, used a walkie-talkie and a tablet to communicate with the student.
The auto driver’s suspicions led to the exposure of the cheating. Authorities seized spy cameras, earphones, tablets, and walkie-talkies. The police have taken both women into custody and initiated an investigation. The students hail from Jashpur, the home district of Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai.
Student leaders from NSUI are protesting and demanding an FIR against the accused and are also advocating for the cancellation of the exam, claiming that the cheating was widespread and compromised the exam’s integrity. They are demanding a thorough investigation into the matter.
