Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district witnessed a significant anti-Naxal operation on Wednesday, leading to the elimination of twelve Naxalite cadres. The intense exchange of fire occurred in the Gangaloor area, a forested region bordering Dantewada, where a joint squad of DRG, STF, and CoBRA commandos was conducting an offensive. While the operation inflicted heavy losses on the Naxalite ranks, it also came at a great cost, with three dedicated DRG jawans losing their lives and two others sustaining injuries.
The fallen heroes were identified as Head Constable Monu Vadadi, Constable Dukaru Gonde, and jawan Ramesh Sodhi, all part of the DRG Bijapur unit. The injured personnel are in stable condition and receiving appropriate medical treatment. From the encounter site, security forces recovered twelve Naxalite bodies, along with a variety of weapons including SLRs and Insas rifles. This action significantly bolsters the counter-insurgency statistics for Chhattisgarh, with the total number of Naxalites killed this year now standing at 268. The Bastar division continues to be a focal point for these operations.
