A CRPF operative suffered leg injuries due to an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Sunday. The incident occurred at 1:45 PM in the forested area near Gogunda, falling under the Fulbagdi police station. Sources indicate that the jawan, serving with the CRPF’s 74th Battalion, encountered a pressure-activated IED during a security patrol aimed at dominating the area. The explosion inflicted injuries on his legs. Emergency medical responders provided immediate on-site aid before arranging for his aerial evacuation to Raipur for comprehensive medical treatment. This event underscores the persistent danger from IEDs laid by Naxalite groups in the Bastar division, a common strategy to target security forces. The remote forested tracts of Sukma are particularly vulnerable to such hidden threats, which have also endangered civilian lives in the past.
