
Raipur: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the newly built unit of Aspire Pharmaceuticals in Nava Raipur, praising the company’s management and touring the facility to observe the drug manufacturing processes.
Chief Minister Sai highlighted the significance of the new pharmaceutical unit, especially considering the medicine shortages faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that India’s development of indigenous vaccines during the crisis set a global precedent. He emphasized that the inauguration of this unit is a crucial step towards advancing the state’s industrial growth.
The Chief Minister stated that Chhattisgarh’s new industrial policy is drawing in investors, with more than ₹6 lakh crore in investment proposals received over the past several months. He mentioned that numerous projects from these proposals have already commenced. The government is actively creating jobs by promoting industrial units and offering special incentives to support them.
He also spoke about Chhattisgarh entering its silver jubilee year and acknowledged the significant contributions of former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh to the state’s development over the past 25 years, particularly in healthcare, education, and infrastructure. The Chief Minister noted improvements in healthcare, highlighting the increase in medical colleges from one to fifteen since the state was formed and the availability of free medical treatment through various schemes.
Sai mentioned that he has been present for the opening of more than six specialist hospitals in the past year and a half, showcasing the continued expansion of healthcare facilities. He referenced Prime Minister Modi’s focus on health and wellness through the use of wellness centers.
The Chief Minister also discussed the vision document, ‘Developed Chhattisgarh 2047,’ which aims to raise the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) from ₹5 lakh crore to ₹10 lakh crore by 2030 and ₹75 lakh crore by 2047, emphasizing that these goals are achievable with the backing of the state’s residents.
During his visit to Aspire Pharmaceuticals, Chief Minister Sai lauded the sophisticated technologies employed by the fully automated unit, which will manufacture a range of medicines, including tablets, syrups, ointments, and creams. He stated that the expansion of the unit will generate numerous job opportunities for local youth.
Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh acknowledged the event as a significant and inspiring start for the pharmaceutical sector in the state. He noted India’s prominent role in this field, emphasizing the importance of medicines and medical resources, as highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic. He stated that even developed nations like the United States and Europe recognized India’s pharmaceutical capabilities during this period.
Dr. Singh also mentioned the recently released vision document that outlines the path to achieving a developed Chhattisgarh, which will drive the state’s progress in the coming years.
He highlighted Nava Raipur’s role in industrial growth, its suitability for investment, and its strategic advantage for logistics due to its connectivity. Dr. Singh congratulated the Aspire Pharmaceuticals team, noting that their venture would foster development in Nava Raipur.
Several dignitaries were in attendance, including Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade, along with various MLAs, and other important figures.
