The University Grants Commission (UGC) has identified 54 private universities across multiple states for failing to comply with the provisions of the UGC Act, 1956, specifically Section 13. These universities did not furnish the requested information to the commission or publish it on their websites. Included in this list are three private universities from Chhattisgarh: Anjanya University, Raipur; Dev Sanskriti University, Sankara Kumhari; and Maharishi Management and Technology University, Bilaspur.
All higher education institutions were instructed on June 10, 2024, to ensure Public Self-Disclosure information was available on their website homepages, promoting transparency for students and their families. Additionally, they were required to submit necessary documentation to the commission in the designated format for verification. Despite these requirements, the universities in question neglected to comply, potentially leading to regulatory measures. The commission had previously attempted to secure compliance through emails and online meetings, but the lack of response resulted in public identification of the universities.
