The Chhattisgarh government has amended the discount structure of its half-electricity bill scheme. The revised scheme provides a 50% reduction on monthly consumption up to 100 units, replacing the previous provision of a discount on 400 units. According to the government, about 31 lakh out of 45 lakh domestic consumers in the state (approximately 70%) have a monthly consumption below 100 units. As a result, these 31 lakh vulnerable households, along with general consumers, will continue to receive the scheme’s benefits. Approximately 70% of the state’s domestic consumers will continue to benefit from the half-electricity scheme as they did earlier. The government is dedicated to offering relief to poor families on their electricity bills.
