
Chhattisgarh’s sports talents will now touch the sky. Players of the state will be made proficient through modern techniques from the initial level itself. Olympic gold medalist shooter Mr. Abhinav Bindra met Chief Minister Mr. Vishnudev Sai at his residence office today. Chief Minister Mr. Sai had a detailed discussion with Mr. Bindra on Olympic Value Education, Sports Injury Recovery and Sports Science Development in Chhattisgarh.
Chief Minister Mr. Vishnudev Sai warmly welcomed Mr. Bindra by presenting him a bouquet and a symbol. He had an in-depth discussion with Mr. Bindra on the development of sports activities in Chhattisgarh and schemes related to promoting sports talents.
During the discussion, Chief Minister Mr. Sai said that the state government is fully committed to promoting the sports talents of Chhattisgarh. The youth of the state have a natural interest and innate talent in sports, especially the youth of tribal areas have immense possibilities. In this context, Mr. Bindra informed the Chief Minister that he wants to start Olympic Value Education, Sports Injury Recovery and Sports Science programs in Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister appreciated this initiative and said that these efforts will prove to be very important in honing the sports talents of the state.
During the discussion, Mr. Bindra said that through the Abhinav Bindra Foundation, he is conducting various programs to bring forward players in different states of the country. He mentioned that these programs run by the foundation for the benefit of sports are free of cost, which is directly benefiting the players. He also discussed starting such programs through the foundation in Chhattisgarh.
Mr. Bindra informed that under the Olympic Value Education program, Olympic values will be developed in the school children of Chhattisgarh. They will be encouraged to adopt values like excellence, respect and friendship, so that the promotion of sports talents can be possible from the initial stage itself.
Mr. Bindra informed Chief Minister Mr. Sai that sports injury is a big challenge for the players. Under the Sports Injury Recovery program, players will be provided complete facilities of free surgery, rehabilitation and post-treatment care, so that they can become healthy and active again in the field of sports. For this, a network of 30 outstanding doctors of the country is working with the foundation, which will benefit the players of Chhattisgarh.
Mr. Bindra told the Chief Minister that the current sports scenario has become completely science-based. Therefore, he wants to start a sports science program in Chhattisgarh, so that players can be trained in a modern and scientific way. With the help of the latest technologies, talent can be identified in a scientific manner and their skills can be properly developed through technology.
Chief Minister Mr. Sai said that the state government is providing all the necessary facilities to the players of Chhattisgarh. There are immense possibilities, especially in the youth of tribal areas. He mentioned that the youth of the special backward Korwa community have natural skill in archery. To promote this talent, an archery academy is being established in Raipur and Jashpur at a cost of Rs 60 crore in collaboration with NTPC. Similarly, more than 1.65 lakh players participated in the Bastar Olympics held in Bastar. The state government has announced to give Rs 3 crore to the gold medal winner, Rs 2 crore to the silver medalist and Rs 1 crore to the bronze medalist players of Chhattisgarh in the Olympics as incentive amount.
On this occasion, Sports Minister Mr. Tankram Verma, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Youth Commission Mr. Vishw Vijay Singh Tomar, Secretary of Sports Department Mr. Yashwant Kumar, Director Mrs. Tanuja Salam, Dr. Digpal Ranawat and other dignitaries were present.
