
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai participated in the Virat Sanskrit Vidvat-Sammelan in Raipur on September 7, 2025, where he articulated his views on the importance of Sanskrit. He emphasized that Sanskrit is the soul of Indian culture, representing India’s unique identity on a global level. According to CM Sai, Sanskrit forms the basis of grammar, philosophy, and science, fostering logical thinking skills. He also stated that Sanskrit education is relevant and useful even in modern times. Sanskrit language and literature are the foundation of the nation’s heritage and need to be preserved and enriched. He sees the conference as a means to reinforce Indian culture, traditions, and the nation through discussions about Sanskrit. He recognized the efforts of Sanskrit Bharati Chhattisgarh and the Sarayupareen Brahmin Sabha Chhattisgarh in preserving and promoting Sanskrit.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that including Sanskrit in contemporary education would lead to improved intellectual development among students. He pointed out the vast collection of texts in Sanskrit, such as the Vedas, Upanishads, and Puranas, that contain insights on philosophy, science, and life values. He highlighted the ongoing relevance of Ayurveda, mathematics, and astrology as described in the Vedas, which can be subjects of research. He also elaborated that the principles of karma, knowledge, and devotion outlined in these texts can bring peace and balance to modern life, showing why Sanskrit education remains valuable even in the modern era.
He further urged that by embracing the knowledge of the Vedas and Upanishads, we can protect our heritage and enhance our lives. He encouraged connecting young people with Sanskrit literature to help them pass on the knowledge to future generations. He added that technology can make Sanskrit education appealing and relevant. He believes that the involvement of Sanskrit scholars and educators in the state can bring concrete steps in this direction. He asked the attendees to pledge to promote Sanskrit education and to connect the next generation to this knowledge through the conference.
During the event, Chief Minister Sai also released a promotional brochure from the Sarayupareen Brahmin Sabha, Chhattisgarh. The Virat Sanskrit Vidvat-Sammelan was a collaborative effort between Sanskrit Bharati Chhattisgarh and Sarayupareen Brahmin Sabha Chhattisgarh.
Dr. Dadu Bhai Tripathi, the State President of Sanskrit Bharati, addressed the conference, citing historical evidence showing that Sanskrit was once a language widely used by the general public. He also stated that the Chhattisgarhi language is directly linked to Sanskrit, using many of Panini’s grammatical roots. He noted that the Surguja region has the highest number of tribal students studying Sanskrit.
Chief Minister Sai honored individuals from the Sarayupareen Brahmin Samaj for their significant contributions. Those honored included Dr. Ashlesha Shukla, a specialist in arthritis, Anant Dwivedi, an accomplished swimmer, and Prof. Sachchidanand Shukla, the Vice-Chancellor of Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University.
The conference was addressed by Dandi Swami Dr. Indubhavanand Maharaj, Dr. Suresh Shukla, President of Sarayupareen Brahmin Sabha Chhattisgarh, and Dr. Shriram Mahadev, the head of teaching at All India Sanskrit Bharati. The event was also attended by Dr. Satendra Singh Sengar, Ajay Tiwari, Badrprasad Gupta, and a large group of Sanskrit teachers, social representatives, and other dignitaries.
