A blast at the Chirmiri open cast coal mine in Chhattisgarh’s Manendragarh district has resulted in injuries to three workers, notably including two women. The explosion occurred on Monday afternoon during the preparation phase for a scheduled blasting operation. Reports indicate that the blast happened unexpectedly as the blasting gang was returning to a safe distance after placing explosives. The force of the blast caused rock fragments to scatter, injuring the workers and damaging equipment. The injured individuals were immediately admitted to the regional hospital in Kurasia, affiliated with SECL. They have sustained minor injuries and are receiving treatment, with their condition being stable. Investigations are underway to pinpoint the exact cause of the premature explosion, with a technical fault being a primary suspect. Safety measures are being re-evaluated following the incident.
