An extraordinary case has surfaced at the Chhattisgarh State Women’s Commission. A 28-year-old woman from Raipur has accused a 17-year-old minor boy from Balodabazar of sexual exploitation, leading to a demand for 50 lakh rupees in compensation and a request for marriage. The case is attracting attention due to the age difference and the nature of the allegations.
The hearing, overseen by commission chairperson Kiran Mai Nayak, involved the presentation of school records, a birth certificate, and an Aadhaar card, all of which confirmed the boy’s age as 17. The commission consequently declared the matter beyond its purview and slated it for referral to the Child Protection Commission.
It was revealed that the minor’s father had previously lodged a complaint against the woman with the Child Protection Commission, approximately two months earlier. When questioned, the woman stated her age as 28, claiming she was initially unaware of the boy’s minor status. She stated that she only became aware of his true age in February when at the Purani Basti police station in Raipur.
Information indicates the boy, from Balodabazar, was in Raipur for cricket. Their relationship, culminating in physical intimacy, developed. The woman subsequently accused the boy of sexual exploitation, requesting 50 lakh rupees and expressing a desire for marriage.
The Women’s Commission’s Stance
After considering the claims, the commission affirmed it could not adjudicate the case due to the boy’s minor status. The related documents would be sent to the Child Protection Commission, which would manage the subsequent proceedings.
During the hearing, the commission voiced disapproval of the woman’s actions, which included a relationship with a minor and a subsequent demand for marriage and compensation. The woman stated that she was unaware of the boy’s age initially and became aware of the situation only after the age was revealed.
The matter is now under the jurisdiction of the Child Protection Commission, which will undertake further investigation and arrive at a resolution, given the age of the accused.
