The Congress party has declared an economic blockade across the state on July 22. This action is in response to the arrest of Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who is implicated in a money laundering case tied to the liquor scam. To manage the blockade, the Congress has appointed key leaders in different areas. The appointed leaders are Lakhmeshwar Baghel for Bastar, Mohan Markam for Kondagaon and Narayanpur, Umesh Patel for Raigarh, Dr. Shivkumar Dahariya for Raipur, Dhanendra Sahu for Masturi, Girish Devangan for Durg, Purushottam Kanwar and Mohit Kerketta for Korba, Premsai Singh for Surguja, Ramkumar Yadav for Saraipali, Atal Srivastava for Bilaspur, and Vyas Kashyap for Janjgir-Champa.
