Raipur, December 4, 2025/The sixth convocation ceremony of Atal Bihari Vajpayee University was held today in a dignified atmosphere, presided over by former President Mr. Ram Nath Kovind as the chief guest. The program was chaired by Governor Mr. Ramesh Bais. Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Arun Sao as distinguished guests, and Higher Education Minister Mr. Tankaram Verma also attended. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Dr. Diwakar Nath Vajpayee, was present. In the ceremony, 64 scholars were awarded research degrees, 92 received gold medals, and 36,950 students received undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
At the university’s convocation, chief guest former President Mr. Ram Nath Kovind extended his heartfelt best wishes to the graduating students for their bright future and called for their active contribution to nation-building. Appreciating the energy and confidence of the young generation, he said that India is today a leader among the world’s fastest-growing economies, and the current youth are its historical witnesses and participants. He stated that graduating from university is not the completion of education, but continuous learning, skill enhancement, and self-development are essential for success in the twenty-first century.
Former President said that in the universities of the country, daughters are often surpassing sons in education, and the number of daughters among the gold medalists of this university is also significant. Congratulating the students, especially the medalists, he said that their achievement is not just the result of their hard work, but also embodies the sacrifice of parents, the support of family, and the invaluable guidance of mentors. This is a golden memorable moment for every student, which they will cherish for a lifetime. He said, “Never think that you have fallen behind. If you do not stop trying, you can always be in the first place.” He urged students to work hard to realize their dreams, stay connected to Indian culture, values, and roots, and embrace Indian heritage like yoga and science.
Governor Mr. Ramesh Bais said that many challenges come in life, in which we sometimes fall, but the most important thing is to pick ourselves up and stand again every time. He told the students not to be afraid of falling in life and always have the courage to rise. Describing discipline as a strong foundation for success in life, the Governor said that life is a beautiful journey, and it is everyone’s responsibility to live it purposefully, positively, and meaningfully. Drawing attention to the importance of mental health, the Governor said that stress has become a major challenge today. Therefore, it is essential to make yoga, meditation, and regular physical activity an integral part of life. He also urged students to choose careers in life that involve less stress, transparency, and lead to positive change for themselves, society, and the nation.
Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai said that success is determined not by degrees but by the continuous desire to learn. The world is changing rapidly, and the youth who choose the path of technology, innovation, and hard work while staying connected to their cultural roots will build the India of tomorrow. Opportunities in life are not always external; sometimes, we have to create opportunities ourselves. Discipline, perseverance, and a positive outlook are the forces that transform every ordinary moment into an extraordinary achievement. He said, “I can confidently say that this generation will take Chhattisgarh and the entire country to new heights.”
Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai said that this ceremony is not just a formal event but a celebration of students’ dreams, resolutions, and struggles. He appreciated the university for implementing systems like multidisciplinary studies, skill-based learning, four-year undergraduate programs, Academic Bank of Credits, and modern curriculum in line with the National Education Policy 2020, enabling students to leverage global opportunities.
Chief Minister said that through digitalization in the university, services like admission process, examination forms, transcripts, and degree certificates have been made available online by the university. This new system provides students with simple, transparent, and fast services. He said that financial assistance under the PM-USA program will significantly contribute to the development of new laboratories, smart classrooms, digital libraries, and modern academic infrastructure, enabling the university to ensure quality and innovation in higher education.
Chief Minister said that universities should encourage quality research in areas such as agricultural science, environmental protection, social structure, language-literature, and technological innovation in line with the state’s needs. He said that the convocation ceremony provided students, parents, and teachers with a celebration of knowledge, discipline, and inspiration, and highlighted Atal Bihari Vajpayee University’s commitment to quality and innovation in higher education.
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Arun Sao said that this state, formed under the guidance of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, has made remarkable progress in various fields, including education. He appreciated the university’s efforts in providing quality education. Higher Education Minister Mr. Tank Ram Verma said that the convocation ceremony is a recognition of the hard work, struggle, and dedication of the students. He informed that the effective utilization of the Academic Bank of Credits is being ensured in the university and development projects worth Rs 20 crore have been approved, which will further strengthen the academic infrastructure. The guests also released the university’s quarterly magazine, Kanhar. The welcome address was delivered by the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Dr. Arun Diwakar Nath Vajpayee.
The program was attended by MLAs Mr. Amar Agarwal, Dharamjit Singh, Dharamlal Kaushik, Sushant Shukla, Atal Srivastava, Dilip Laharia, CREDA Chairman Mr. Bhupendra Savanni, Mayor Mrs. Pooja Vidhani, Registrar Dr. Taranish Gautam, along with university professors and a large number of students.
