A significant blow has been dealt to the Naxal movement in Chhattisgarh as 71 militants surrendered in Dantewada. The group included 30 individuals carrying a total reward of 64 lakhs. This surrender marks a substantial success for the security forces and the state government.
The surrender occurred in the presence of Dantewada SP Gaurav Roy and CRPF officials. The Naxals were reportedly influenced by the government’s rehabilitation schemes and the continuous pressure from security forces. The Loan Varraatu campaign played a key role in encouraging the Naxals to surrender.
The surrendered Naxals are now set to receive support for skill development and will be provided with essential items as part of their rehabilitation. The authorities highlighted that the combined effect of security operations and government initiatives has pushed the Naxals toward surrender.
Among those who surrendered were 21 women. The SP of Dantewada, Gaurav Rai, confirmed that the surrender was a result of the ‘Rehabilitation to Rebirth’ and Loan Varraatu campaigns. This signifies the positive impact of these campaigns on the Naxal ecosystem.
