
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah met with officials in New Delhi to commend their efforts in recent anti-Naxal operations. He congratulated them on the historical success achieved and emphasized the government’s commitment to ridding India of Naxalism. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were in attendance.
In a statement on X, Shah acknowledged the officers’ contributions and expressed his eagerness to meet the soldiers who contributed to the success of the operations. A visit to Chhattisgarh is planned. The operations, conducted under the direction of the Union Home Minister, involved the Chhattisgarh Police, including forces from various districts. A significant encounter on May 21, 2025, in the forests of Boter resulted in the deaths of 27 Maoists, including a top leader, and the recovery of a large amount of arms and ammunition.
Among those honored were Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police Sundarraj, and several Superintendents of Police. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka were among the senior officials present at the ceremony.
