
The Union Home and Cooperation Minister, Amit Shah, recently met with officials in New Delhi to celebrate the successes of recent anti-Naxal operations. Shah congratulated the officers involved and reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism. Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were also present.
On X, Shah expressed his admiration for the officers and his intention to meet the soldiers who contributed to the operations’ success. He plans to visit Chhattisgarh soon.
The operations, guided by the Union Home and Cooperation Minister, saw the participation of the Chhattisgarh Police, including DRG forces. A key operation in the Abujhmar region, from May 18-21, 2025, resulted in an encounter on May 21, 2025, in the forests near village Boter, which led to the death of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Baswaraju alias Gaganna, and the seizure of a large cache of weapons and ammunition.
Among those honored by Amit Shah were Chhattisgarh’s top police officials: Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police Sundarraj, and Superintendents of Police Prabhat Kumar, Jitendra Yadav, and Shalabh Singh. The event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including the Union Home Secretary and the Director of the Intelligence Bureau.
