
The Union Home and Cooperation Minister, Amit Shah, recognized officials in New Delhi for their contributions to successful anti-Naxal operations. Shah acknowledged the significance of these operations and congratulated the officials on their achievements, emphasizing the government’s commitment to eliminate Naxalism. The event saw the presence of Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai, and Deputy Chief Minister, Vijay Sharma.
In a social media post, the Home Minister expressed his appreciation for the officials involved and announced his plans to meet with the soldiers who displayed courage during the operations. He reiterated the government’s goal of freeing India from the clutches of Naxalism.
The anti-Maoist operations, conducted under the guidance of the Union Home and Cooperation Minister, are ongoing in Chhattisgarh. A notable operation involved the Chhattisgarh Police, with the participation of DRG forces from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur, in the Abujhmad region from May 18-21, 2025. The operation culminated in an encounter on May 21, 2025, in which 27 Naxals, including Basavaraju alias Gaganna, the General Secretary of CPI (Maoist), were killed, and a considerable amount of weaponry and ammunition were seized.
Key officials honored included Arun Dev Gautam, Director General of Police; Vivekanand, Additional Director General of Police; Sundarraj, Inspector General of Police; and Superintendents of Police from Narayanpur, Bijapur, and Bastar. Senior officials, including Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, were present.
