
In a recent event in New Delhi, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah recognized officers for their contributions to the successful operations against Naxalism. He congratulated them on the achievements, emphasizing the Modi government’s commitment to ridding India of the Naxal threat. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were also present.
Shah, through a social media post, conveyed his excitement to meet the brave personnel who ensured the success of these missions and confirmed a forthcoming visit to Chhattisgarh. He also highlighted the anti-Maoist operations led by security forces in Chhattisgarh under his leadership. A notable operation from May 18 to 21, 2025, involving the Chhattisgarh Police, including district-level DRG forces, culminated in an encounter in the Boter forests on May 21, 2025. This resulted in the elimination of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) leader Basavaraju (Gaganna), and the recovery of substantial arms and ammunition.
Honorees included key officials such as Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police Vivekananda, Inspector General of Police Sundarraj, and Superintendents of Police Prabhat Kumar, Jitendra Yadav, and Shalabh Singh. The ceremony was attended by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and other high-ranking officials.
