
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah recognized the significant contributions of Chhattisgarh officials in recent anti-Naxal operations during a meeting held in New Delhi. He congratulated them on the historic success achieved and reaffirmed the government’s dedication to eliminating Naxalism from India. Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma were present.
Shah, through a post on X, expressed his admiration for the officers and his eagerness to meet with the soldiers who ensured the success of the operations. He also announced his upcoming visit to Chhattisgarh to meet with them. He mentioned that the operations were conducted under his direction.
These operations, carried out by security forces in Chhattisgarh under the guidance of Amit Shah, targeted Maoist strongholds, notably in the interior regions of Abujhmad. A key operation from May 18-21, 2025, involving various district police forces, resulted in a major encounter on May 21, 2025, in the forests of Boter village, where 27 Naxals were killed, including the CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Basavaraju. A large cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered.
The honored officers included key figures from the Chhattisgarh Police force, such as Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and the Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka were among the senior officials who attended the event.
