Delhi has not received rainfall since September 8th. The IMD indicates that clear skies are expected in Delhi through September 22nd, with sunshine and a maximum temperature possibly reaching 34 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature is forecast to be around 24 degrees Celsius.
Meerut is situated approximately 82 km from Delhi, while Mathura is 183 km away. Both locations are under a 48-hour rain alert, with overcast skies and the potential for thunderstorms. Maximum temperatures are forecast to be 34 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are expected to be 25 degrees Celsius.
The monsoon season is still active in the country, resulting in heavy rainfall across numerous states. Uttarakhand’s mountainous regions have been particularly affected by devastating rains. A cloudburst in Dehradun on Tuesday triggered landslides and heavy downpours in the Sahastradhara area. The Meteorological Department anticipates heavy rainfall today in several states.
Uttar Pradesh is experiencing heavy rainfall. Western UP can expect rain and thundershowers in certain areas, while eastern UP may experience widespread showers and thunderstorms. Some parts of eastern UP may receive very heavy rainfall. Thunderstorms and lightning are also anticipated in both regions. Over the next 3-4 days, districts in Purvanchal, Madhyanchal, and Terai can expect moderate to heavy rainfall.
Heavy rainfall is expected in Bihar until September 19th. Today, rain is also predicted for Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and western Madhya Pradesh. Eastern Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, and Odisha are also expected to see rainfall. Heavy rainfall warnings are in place for sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim until September 18th. Rainfall is also forecast for central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha.
Punjab and Haryana are under a heavy rain advisory. A major heavy rain alert has been issued for Haryana, and rain is expected in many districts today. According to the weather department, weather activities are likely in the state from September 17-20. Similar weather conditions, including potential rainfall, are expected in Punjab.
Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have been severely impacted by recent heavy rainfall. A cloudburst in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, led to reports of missing individuals and fatalities. The Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh also suffered significant damage due to the heavy rains. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall today in seven districts of Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, Chamoli, Nainital, and Champawat. Relief from the rain is possible in Himachal Pradesh tomorrow.
