The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated raids in Chhattisgarh, targeting Vijay Agrawal, a prominent railway contractor and the owner of Hotel Sagar International. The raids took place early Tuesday morning at Agrawal’s locations in Durg, with ED teams supported by CRPF security personnel.
According to sources, the ED is conducting extensive questioning and reviewing documents at Agrawal’s home and office. Investigations suggest that Vijay Agrawal has multiple firms registered under different names, and his family members are also involved in business activities. The business was previously run by three brothers but recently underwent a family division. The ED is focusing on the entire business group, including all three brothers. The family’s name came up during the Mid-Day Meal scheme during the previous government’s time in Chhattisgarh, where they were granted contracts. The group has also faced allegations related to the Rail Neer scam.
It is understood that the raids are not restricted to Durg. ED teams are active in Raipur as well, where the family has other business establishments. The Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Raipur, owned by the family, may also be scrutinized. The ED has not issued any official statements yet, but the investigation is likely to continue throughout the day. The ongoing actions by the ED in Chhattisgarh are expected to affect the state’s commercial and political landscapes.
