
A recent elephant attack in Korba district has resulted in the death of a villager, deepening the sense of fear in the area. The incident unfolded in the village of Tanera, located within the Pasān range of the Katghora block. The victim, 35-year-old Dhan Singh God, was a farmer by profession. The tragic event occurred on Sunday night when an elephant entered the village. The animal encountered Dhan Singh God and subsequently attacked him, leading to his death. Upon receiving word of the incident, villagers gathered and alerted the Forest Department. Forest officials provided immediate financial assistance of ₹25,000 to the family of the deceased, as per government regulations. Residents were also cautioned to be vigilant. The Forest Department has urged villagers to refrain from entering the forest. This latest incident adds to a series of elephant attacks in Korba, where elephants have been causing damage to farmlands and homes. The repeated attacks have forced some villagers to consider abandoning their homes and relocating.
