In a significant move, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has summoned an emergency cabinet meeting. The primary focus of the meeting will be the impending visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the welfare of the family of ASP Akash Giripunje. ASP Giripunje was martyred in a Naxal attack in Konta. The government is expected to offer a compassionate appointment to his widow. Amit Shah’s visit, scheduled for two days starting on the 16th, will include a visit to the family. The Home Minister will also assess the anti-Naxal operations in Bijapur. The meeting will also set dates for the monsoon session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly. The Chief Minister’s office tweeted paying tributes to the ASP, reiterating that the sacrifice will not be in vain, and that eliminating Naxalism and bringing peace to Bastar is a priority. The government’s actions underscore its commitment to supporting families of those who have lost their lives in the line of duty and its resolve to combat Naxalism. The government is aiming to eradicate Naxalism from Chhattisgarh by March 2026.
