
Raipur. July 16, 2025. The “Excellence Awards Ceremony” organized in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly complex today under the chief guestship of Governor Shri Ramen Deka concluded in a dignified atmosphere. Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh presided over the ceremony. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant attended the ceremony as special guests. In the “Excellence Awards Ceremony”, Smt. Bhavna Vohra and Shri Lakheshwar Baghel were honored as outstanding MLAs for the year 2024. For outstanding parliamentary reporting, special correspondent of Dainik Bhaskar Dr. Rakesh Kumar Pandey, head of the state bureau of Sudarshan News channel Shri Yogesh Mishra and cameraman of Sudarshan News Shri Vishwaprakash Purena were honored at the ceremony.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao and Shri Vijay Sharma, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, MP Smt. Jyotsna Mahant, Shri Brijmohan Agarwal and Shri Vijay Baghel, wife of Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh Smt. Veena Singh, wife of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai Smt. Kaushalya Sai, ministers and legislators also attended the “Excellence Awards Ceremony” ceremony. The release of a booklet focused on the orientation program for the elected MLAs for the sixth assembly was also done at the ceremony.
Addressing the “Excellence Awards Ceremony” as the chief guest, Governor Shri Ramen Deka said that this ceremony is not only an opportunity to honor individual achievements, but also a medium to further strengthen our parliamentary traditions. He congratulated Smt. Bhavna Bohra and Shri Lakheshwar Baghel, selected for the Outstanding MLA of the year 2024, and Dr. Rakesh Kumar Pandey, Shri Yogesh Mishra and Shri Vishwaprakash Purena, selected for outstanding parliamentary journalism.
Governor Shri Ramen Deka said in the ceremony that all of you have worked to convey the activities of the Assembly to the public with honesty, sensitivity and responsibility. Your role is very important in ensuring the transparency and accountability of democracy. Chhattisgarh Assembly has a healthy tradition where not only MLAs, but also journalists are honored. I urge all of you to rise above your political commitments and always give priority to public interest and public welfare.
Governor Shri Deka said that the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly has entered its silver jubilee year of establishment. This occasion is a moment of introspection and new resolution for all of us. It is necessary to respectfully follow parliamentary traditions and procedures to keep the soul of our parliamentary democracy alive. The real purpose of any legislative house lies in public welfare. For the overall development of the country and the state, it is necessary that all public representatives, rising above party lines, work together with a spirit of coordination and cooperation.
