Raigarh, Chhattisgarh – A case of alleged sexual assault and breach of promise has led to the arrest of a man by the Mahila Thana police. Dayaram Sidar is accused of exploiting a woman after befriending her on Facebook and promising marriage. The accused has been remanded in judicial custody.
The victim reported that she met Sidar in 2021 via Facebook. They later began cohabiting in a rented residence in Raigarh. The woman stated that Sidar initiated physical relations with her on April 9, 2022, under the pretext of marriage. Over the following years, the accused is alleged to have repeatedly sexually exploited the woman, residing in different rented properties while continuing to promise marriage.
The victim claims that Sidar employed deceptive tactics, making repeated false promises and delaying the marriage. When the woman repeatedly inquired about the marriage, the accused evaded her questions and eventually refused to marry her.
The police acted on the complaint, filing a case under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The victim underwent a medical examination. The police team then apprehended Sidar. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, leading to his arrest and subsequent presentation in court, which resulted in judicial remand.
The quick response of the police was credited to the efforts of Sub-Inspector Deepika Nirmalkar, Assistant Sub-Inspector Saraswati Mahapatre, and their team. The investigation continues.
