A devastating road accident in Surajpur has resulted in the deaths of a mother and her son. The incident occurred in the Bhatgaon area. Urmila Nayak was on a scooter with her 10-year-old son en route to Matiguda when their vehicle was hit by a speeding diesel tanker near Kapsara village on the Ambikapur-Banaras road. The son died at the crash site. His mother, critically injured, was taken to Ambikapur Medical College, where she later died from her injuries. The woman was employed as a sanitation worker at the Jarhi Nagar Panchayat. The tanker driver fled after the accident but was subsequently arrested by the Latori police, who are investigating the case.
