To reinforce the social security framework nationwide, the central government has introduced SPREE 2025, a scheme aimed at promoting the registration of employers and employees. This special registration drive, operational until December 31, 2025, provides employers and workers with an opportunity to join the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to worker welfare, aiming to create a robust and comprehensive social security system for all laborers.
The scheme seeks to incorporate numerous unorganized, temporary, and contract workers within the ambit of ESI, enabling them to access healthcare, maternity benefits, financial security, and other social benefits. Employers receive several concessions as well: no penalties or demands on past contributions, exemption from inspections on previous cases, and registration validity from the date declared by the employer.
Chhattisgarh is a key focus, with ESIC conducting awareness campaigns, helpdesks, and seminars through its regional and sub-regional offices in Raipur, Bilaspur, Korba, and Durg. Employers with 10 or more employees who are not yet registered under the ESI Act, or who haven’t included all eligible employees, can register online via the ESIC portal, Shram Suvidha portal, or MCA portal.
