
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s residence hosted the traditional Hareli festival on July 24th, highlighting the cultural richness of Chhattisgarh. The event exhibited a variety of traditional agricultural tools and attire, illustrating the state’s unique heritage.
Featured items included the ‘Katha,’ used for measuring paddy before modern scales, representing a traditional unit of measurement. The ‘Khumri,’ a bamboo head covering, provided protection, especially for cowherds, who also used the ‘Kamra’ (raincoat). The ‘Kasi Ki Dori,’ a strong rope made from the ‘Kasi’ plant stem, was used for weaving cots. The ‘Jhanpi,’ a wooden container, served as a storage solution, particularly during weddings. The ‘Kalari,’ a bamboo stick with a pointed hook, was essential for the paddy threshing process.
