
A horrific traffic accident took place on the Raipur-Jabalpur National Highway 30 in the Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh on Sunday evening. The incident occurred near Akalgharia village, within the Chilfi police station area, and involved a head-on collision between a truck and a Bolero. Tragically, the crash claimed the lives of five individuals and caused serious injuries to five others. Following the accident, the scene was marked by cries and distress. The Chilfi police responded to the scene and arranged for the injured to be taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Sources indicate that the victims, who were teachers and their families, were from Kolkata. They were en route to Bilaspur to catch a train back to Kolkata after visiting the Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh when the accident occurred.
The Bolero vehicle, which was carrying ten people, had been hired from Satna. The accident happened when the Bolero was traveling on the Raipur-Jabalpur National Highway 30 near Akalgharia and collided with a truck approaching from the opposite direction. The impact was devastating, completely destroying the Bolero. The driver died at the scene, and four others died while receiving treatment.
Local residents quickly came to the aid of those injured. They assisted in removing the injured from the damaged Bolero and notified the authorities. The Chilfi police and the Dial 112 team promptly arrived and, with the assistance of local villagers, transported the injured to Bodla Community Health Center. Doctors pronounced one person dead upon arrival, and three others died during treatment. The remaining five seriously injured people were transferred to Kawardha District Hospital for further care. The deceased included three women, a girl, and a man. The police are currently investigating the accident to determine the cause and assess culpability.
