
Chhattisgarh has issued a yellow alert for 18 districts today. Rainfall, ranging from light to moderate, has been observed across the state in the last 24 hours. The capital, Raipur, experienced rainfall from Friday evening into Saturday, and further showers occurred in the morning. Bijapur recorded the highest rainfall at 56 mm. The weather is due to an atmospheric circulation forming in the Bay of Bengal, which is expected to continue for the next couple of days.
The yellow alert is in effect for districts including Raipur, Surguja, GPM, Korba, Dhamtari, Kondagaon, Gariaband, Bijapur, and Bastar. These areas face the threat of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds.
A tragic incident occurred in the Takhatpur area of Bilaspur where a family of three was struck by lightning. One person died as a result, and two others were injured. The injured were taken to SIMS Hospital for treatment.
