The High Court in Chhattisgarh has expressed serious concern over the escalating number of road accidents. A division bench, consisting of Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice Ravindra Kumar Agrawal, addressed the issue during a hearing on a public interest litigation. The court scrutinized the presence of liquor shops and the encroachment by dhabas near highways. Advocate Ravindra Sharma, the court commissioner, submitted a detailed report on a black spot in the Sargawa area of Mungeli district, highlighting encroachment and unsafe parking as contributing factors to accidents. NTPC and SECL have been issued notices to respond to the court’s queries.
