Union Home Minister Amit Shah held discussions with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in New Delhi, focusing on the advancements in anti-Maoist operations and development projects within the Bastar region. The Chief Minister presented a comprehensive update, emphasizing the success of the state government’s strategic initiatives, supported by the central government, in driving the Naxal eradication campaign forward. These strategies, implemented over the past 18 months, have shown promising results.
The Chief Minister provided specific data, revealing that 1,428 Maoists have surrendered, representing a substantial increase compared to the preceding five years. He also detailed that 427 Maoists were neutralized in 205 encounters, including high-ranking members like General Secretary Basava Raju and Central Committee member Sudhakar.
Furthermore, CM Sai highlighted the establishment of 64 new forward security camps, contributing to a strengthened security network. These camps are instrumental in bringing essential services, such as electricity, clean water, healthcare, and educational facilities, to the surrounding villages. The ‘Niyad Nellanar Yojana’ is being implemented in 146 villages, providing a comprehensive package of 18 community services and 25 government schemes, thereby boosting local confidence in the governance process.
