A CRPF trooper was injured by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Sunday, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region. The incident took place at 1:45 PM near Gogunda, in the Fulbagdi police station area. A jawan from the 74th Battalion CRPF accidentally triggered a pressure IED during a routine patrol aimed at dominating the area. The explosion caused significant injuries to his legs. Emergency medical response was swift, with the injured soldier receiving on-site treatment before being airlifted to Raipur for advanced medical attention. The use of IEDs by Maoist insurgents is a common tactic employed in the remote forested areas of the Bastar division, often targeting security forces. These explosive devices have unfortunately also led to civilian casualties in the past. This event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by security personnel, coming shortly after another fatal IED attack in Sukma on June 9th that resulted in the death of an Additional Superintendent of Police and injured two other officers.
