Three coal mine workers, two of them women, suffered injuries following an explosion at the Chirmiri open cast coal mine in Chhattisgarh’s Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district. The South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) facility was the scene of the incident on Monday afternoon during preparations for a blasting operation. A team was actively engaged in placing explosives when an unforeseen blast occurred. The force of the explosion scattered debris, leading to the injuries. The three affected individuals, all of whom sustained minor injuries, were quickly attended to and admitted to the SECL regional hospital in Kurasia. Their conditions are stable, and they are anticipated to be released shortly. Investigations into the exact cause of the premature blast are underway, with a technical fault being the leading suspicion. The company is conducting a comprehensive review, encompassing potential equipment issues, operational oversights, and human factors. Safety measures are under scrutiny, and mine activities have been temporarily halted.
