Police in Chhattisgarh have made a significant breakthrough in a year-old murder case, arresting five individuals. The investigation revealed that a man was murdered by his wife, her ex-boyfriend, and members of her family. The couple, Lovely Singh and Akash Singh, had eloped and married against the wishes of their families. Lovely Singh continued a relationship with her former boyfriend, Abhinav Singh, even after marriage. The woman’s family, disapproving of Akash, invited the couple and Abhinav to their home. A heated argument ensued, during which Akash was brutally murdered. His body was subsequently discarded in a pond. The case began when the body of an unidentified man was found in a pond on September 29, 2024. The police initially investigated the case as a murder, but the lack of identification led to the body being buried. A missing person report filed in Raipur provided the crucial lead, linking the missing person’s description to the deceased. After DNA testing and identification, the police were able to confirm the identity of the victim. The investigation showed Lovely and Akash had married against the wishes of their families. The murder took place on September 25, 2024, at the invitation of Lovely’s father. Following the murder, Lovely, along with her father and brothers, relocated to Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh, while she continued to post pictures with Akash on social media to avoid raising suspicion. The police have now arrested all five suspects.
