Security forces in Chhattisgarh have achieved a significant victory with the surrender of 50 Maoist cadres, prominently featuring 32 women, in Kanker district. This large-scale surrender, led by influential commanders Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam, took place at the Kamtera camp of the BSF’s 40th Battalion. The insurgents also surrendered 39 weapons, signifying a considerable weakening of their presence in the Maad region. Among those who surrendered were five senior DVCM-rank individuals and 21 ACM-level fighters. This marks the first wave of surrenders from the northern Maad territory. Anticipation is high for an even larger group of around 120 Maoist cadres to surrender by Thursday in Bijapur district. Authorities are intensifying efforts to encourage more individuals to abandon the militant path through community engagement initiatives.
