A significant breach in Maoist ranks occurred in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district, where 50 cadres, including 32 women, voluntarily surrendered to security forces. The surrendered individuals also yielded 39 weapons to the Border Security Force’s 40th Battalion. This event, which took place at the Kamtera camp, is viewed as a major success for the government’s anti-Naxal operations. The surrender includes several key leaders, indicating a potential weakening of the Naxal hierarchy. Authorities are hopeful that this will encourage more cadres to return to mainstream society, with another large group expected to surrender in Bijapur by Thursday. This marks a crucial moment in combating insurgency in the region.
