Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district has witnessed a significant blow to Naxal activities with the surrender of 50 Maoist cadres. Notably, 32 of these surrendered individuals were women. The rebels also deposited 39 weapons with the authorities. The surrender was facilitated at the Kamtera camp of the BSF’s 40th Battalion, with senior commanders Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam reportedly leading the group. This development is seen as a major disruption to the Naxal infrastructure in the Maad region. The surrendered group comprises influential figures within the Maoist hierarchy, including several DVCM and ACM rank members. This is the first wave of surrenders from the northern Maad area, and authorities are preparing for an even larger group of approximately 120 Naxals to surrender in Bijapur district. Security forces are continuing their efforts to reintegrate former rebels into society.
