Three coal mine workers, including two women, sustained injuries in an explosion at the Chirmiri open cast mine in the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district of Chhattisgarh on Monday. The incident occurred in the afternoon while workers were preparing for a controlled blasting operation. Initial accounts suggest the explosion happened suddenly as the blasting gang was returning to a safe zone after placing explosives. The impact of the blast caused fragments to scatter, hitting workers and damaging equipment in the vicinity. The injured were immediately attended to and transported to a local hospital, where their condition is described as stable. Officials are investigating the cause, with preliminary indications pointing towards a possible technical malfunction. The company has initiated an inquiry, and safety measures are being re-evaluated.
