A missing person case in Dhamtari, Chhattisgarh, took an unexpected turn when a man, initially presumed drowned, was discovered in Delhi. The individual, identified as Hemant Chandravanshi, was reported missing after his clothes and slippers were found near the Gangrel Dam. A search involving police and divers was launched. After a 12-day search, authorities tracked Chandravanshi to Delhi. He confessed to faking his death due to substantial debt. Chandravanshi, a resident of Kawardha, was at the dam with friends. On May 25, he allegedly sent his friends away on an errand and then vanished. After a fruitless search, the police began investigating. They tracked a second phone number, which led them to Delhi. He was apprehended and brought back for questioning. According to ASP Manishankar Chandra, the man was facing a significant financial crisis that prompted him to stage the event.
