Chhattisgarh is set to experience a spell of active monsoon conditions, with the Meteorological Department forecasting light to moderate rainfall in the central and southern areas of the state for the next five days. This weather pattern is influenced by the monsoon trough and the presence of cyclonic circulation. The Sarguja division is particularly at risk, with warnings of moderate to heavy rainfall coupled with thunderstorms.
In the last 24 hours, all divisions across the state received light to moderate rainfall. Rajnandgaon recorded the highest temperature, reaching 33.5 degrees Celsius, while Durg experienced the lowest at 20.6 degrees Celsius.
Raipur will also see a change in weather, with cloudy skies and potential for rain and thunderstorms throughout the day. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 33 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for numerous districts, including Sukma, Bijapur, Dantewada, Bastar, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Kanker, Dhamtari, Balod, Rajnandgaon, Gariaband, Mahasamund, Raipur, Baloda Bazar, Janjgir-Champa, Raigarh, Bilaspur, Korba, Jashpur, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Durg, Bemetara, Kabirdham, Mungeli, Sarguja, Surajpur, Korea, and Balrampur, anticipating light to moderate rainfall.
The monsoon trough, stretching from Sriganganagar to the northeast Bay of Bengal, along with a cyclonic circulation over eastern Uttar Pradesh, are the key factors driving the upcoming weather. This setup will intensify rainfall activities across Chhattisgarh in the coming days, providing relief for farmers and the public who have been awaiting the rains. Residents of areas with potential for heavy rainfall are urged to exercise caution.
