A disturbing incident has been reported from the cremation ground near the new pond in Arang, sparking widespread alarm. Following the recent passing of Nona Dhurandhar, a resident of Ward 12, her family conducted her final rites according to Hindu traditions at the cremation ground in Ward 6. However, when they returned to collect the ashes, they were met with a distressing discovery: the ashes were gone.
The family found only a few items at the cremation site, including three small earthen pots, partially burnt wicks, a piece of cloth, and a piece of wood used in the cremation process. The missing ashes have deeply saddened the family, as the ash immersion ceremony is considered essential for the peace and spiritual journey of the departed soul in Hinduism. The family is now desperately searching for the missing remains to fulfill this important religious rite.
Local officials, including the Chief Municipal Officer and the Arang police station in-charge, have been informed. The family is requesting that the authorities take steps to ensure that such incidents do not occur again, suggesting the installation of a watchman and CCTV cameras at the cremation ground.
Adding to the mystery, local residents and the family suspect foul play, noting a potential connection to the increase in tantric activities often observed during the Sawan month. They fear that a tantric practitioner or someone driven by superstition might have stolen the ashes. The police and administration are urged to launch a thorough investigation and take necessary action given the sensitive nature of the situation.
