The Chhattisgarh government, under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, has declared its commitment to supporting sports talent, offering resources and platforms for athletes. Acknowledging the achievements of archer Navleen Kaur from Mahasamund district, who has qualified for the national games, the government pledged its assistance. Kaur’s recent gold medal in the state-level competition was highlighted.
Chief Minister Sai stated that the government would provide all possible support to athletes like Navleen. He noted her resilience in overcoming health challenges since birth and choosing a sporting path. Navleen’s gold medal win was a testament to her dedication.
Navleen Kaur, a resident of Bagbahara in Mahasamund, is the daughter of Arvind and Ranjit Kaur Chhabra. Facing health issues from a premature birth, she chose archery as a path. She began her training in 2018 at the Bihajhar Balashram.
Her achievements include becoming Mahasamund district’s first female archer, winning medals at state-level competitions, and securing a fourth-place finish nationally. She also represented Chhattisgarh in the 2023 FGFI National Archery Competition, earning second place in a state-level senior event.
Navleen aspires to represent India internationally and win medals. With a new compound bow provided by her family, she is preparing for international competitions. Her recent win in the City Open Archery Competition (compound round girls’ category) marks a promising start. She is currently training with coach Awan Sahu and sports officer Manoj Dhrtalhare.
